Blasted Church Nectar of the Gods

A winery name with a bang. Blasted Church is in Okanagan Falls, named for a 1929 church move where the crew hung dynamite in the rafters to loosen the nails. The steeple did not survive, the church did. Nectar of the Gods is their full-bodied red blend, good with roast meat and root vegetables.

BenRiach The Twelve
Speyside · 750ml
BenRiach took a long lunch. It opened in Speyside in 1898, stopped distilling two years later, and made malt for Longmorn next door until the stills came back on in 1965. The Twelve is unpeated and aged in three kinds of cask, ex-bourbon, sherry and virgin oak.

33 Acres of Nirvana IPA

Nirvana takes patience. 33 Acres says this West Coast IPA takes about twice as long to make as most of its other beers, brewed on West 8th Avenue in Mount Pleasant. Grapefruit, with a woody bitterness. Six cans to a pack.
